Pittsburgh Post Gazette Editorial Board: Democratic Party endorsement fees are undemocratic

"The message is clear: Unless you have the means to pay up, or the political connections to get others to pony up, you need not apply to be a representative of the people. The party’s filing fees make it much harder for fresh candidates from economically underprivileged backgrounds to compete for local offices. " -The Editorial Board, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Black Political Empowerment Project (B-PEP) continues to call for the elimination of endorsement consideration fees charged by the Allegheny County Democratic Committee (ACDC).


In a concurring piece published March 8, 2023, The Editorial Board at Pittsburgh Post-Gazette called the practice "a pay-to-play policy that undemocratically restricts the number of people who can realistically run for public office. The committee should scrap it."
